The head of the UOC-KP Filaret Denisenko believes that political figures changed in Ukraine in 2019, but the system has not undergone significant changes and many Poroshenko’s proteges remained in power. He stated this in an interview with Fakty.

Filaret believes that “there are still many Poroshenko’s proteges”, referring to the head of the Department of Religions and Ethnic Minorities of the Ministry of Culture, Andrei Yurash.

According to the head of the UOC-KP, “in 2019, political figures changed, but inside the system did not undergo significant changes. These people performed tasks that President Poroshenko had put before them. And now it’s hard for them to abandon their decisions. Because they will immediately ask: how about consistency?”

Filaret emphasized that Zelensky’s position on non-interference in church affairs completely suits him: “We do not need government intervention or assistance in the development of the Church. Really. We will manage it on our own.”

In addition, he said that “everyone said that Poroshenko should not be trusted. Because he is telling falsehood. But ... I believed him. Now I’m convinced that one cannot believe him.”

According to Filaret Denisenko, Poroshenko is “a believer, but he needed the Church, first of all, in order to become the president for the second time. Tomos did not help.”

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the head of the UOC-KP requested the President to return it the state registration, which, according to him, the KP was desprived of illegally and stated that Epiphany and the Ministry of Culture were driving the UOC-KP underground.
