On January 29, 2020, Tirana hosted a meeting between the Primate of the Albanian Orthodox Church, Archbishop of Tirana and All Albania, Anastasios (Yannulatos), and the Head of the UOC Representation to European International Organizations, Bishop Victor (Kotsaba) of Baryshevka. This was announced by the UOC Bishop in his Telegram channel.
Bishop Victor (Kotsaba) shared his impressions of his conversation with the Primate of the Albanian Church. Vladyka recalled that at the moment Metropolitan Anastasios is "the oldest in age among the Primates of the Local Churches."
According to him, an hour and a half communication with the respected hierarch "flew by like an instant." He also noted that Metropolitan Anastasios is notable for "his extraordinary depth of thought, purity of thought, and his face shines with true Christ love."
The Head of the UOC Representation to European International Organizations wrote that he had left the residence of the Archbishop of Tirana "with the elated feelings of spiritual fulfillment and uplift."
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that, according to the Primate of the Albanian Orthodox Church, Archbishop Anastasios, time does not heal schisms but only further aggravates them, therefore the Council should be convened immediately to resolve the issue of the OCU.
