Metropolitan Luke: Pompeo’s visit to OCU shows who is fighting Orthodoxy

On January 31, 2020, Metropolitan Luke of Zaporizhia and Melitopol commented on his Telegram channel the results of the visit of US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo to Ukraine and his meeting with "metropolitan" of the OCU Epiphany Dumenko.
According to His Eminence, “everyone understood it long ago that the United States had become the hub for all the anti-Orthodox forces in the world. And, of course, M. Pompeo’s visit to Epiphany must be viewed as another political America's marker on the forces with which it is fighting against Orthodoxy in our country.”
Metropolitan Luke noted that the joint photo of Michael Pompeo and the head of the OCU reminds him of the “Mowgli” characters – the tiger Sherkhan and the jackal Tabaki.
“This is so humiliating, vile, two-faced selling today to overseas owners. These people do not need a prosperous country; they are not interested in the revival of the economy, the spiritual development of society. They only need one thing – to curry favor, to receive profit as a dog’s bone, to show their devotion to the ‘master’.”
Metropolitan Luke explains that the head of the OCU “never speaks about anything spiritual at all. All his interests revolve only around politics. He lies all the time and sows enmity and hatred in our homeland, falsely complaining and silent about the actions of his organized criminal group.”
He asks the question, “Can't we Ukrainians ourselves sort out our faith-related issues in our country? After all, it is obvious to everyone that the interests of the United States in Ukraine are not to make us happy but to pursue their political goals and destroy our people. In order to achieve these goals, they need mediocre people who are ready to betray their country and serve those who give orders to them. That is why M. Pompeo, whose heart is filled with intrigue and meanness, is not interested in those who have faith, honor and conscience in their hearts. He will not meet with Metropolitan Onuphry, whose heart is striving for God.”
“The American leadership is scouring for petty and corrupt minds to achieve their goals and, unfortunately, there are a lot of them in our country,” concluded the hierarch.
Recall that earlier, political analyst Mikhail Pogrebinsky said in a commentary in the wake of U.S. Secretary of State Michael Pompeo’s visit to Ukraine that the US is already openly demonstrating that recognition of the OCU by other Orthodox Churches is their work, while the entire event with the Tomos and the OCU was originally orchestrated in Washington.
