In his article published on Romfea website, Greek lawyer and senior employee of the UN Legal Service Spyros V. Bazinas suggested that the western part of Ukraine be given to the Patriarchate of Constantinople.

In particular, Spyros V. Bazinas shared his vision of overcoming the crisis which World Orthodoxy is facing due to the recognition of the OCU by some Orthodox Churches.

Bazinas believes that in order to solve this problem, it is urgent to convene a Pan-Orthodox Council, which should take a decision on the "Ukrainian crisis".

Considering how exactly this decision should be made, Bazinas says that "based on historical data, Ukraine has never been a single country but included two parts – one is Ukrainian/pro-Western and the other is Ukrainian/pro-Russian."

According to the Greek lawyer, "neither of the sides in Ukraine can be forced to subordinate to the other, since in one state there are actually two nations."

Therefore, the Greek lawyer says, in Ukraine “there will certainly be two Churches: one spiritually belonging to Constantinople, and the other spiritually connected with Moscow, at least for the time being.”

Bazinas further says that “when political reconciliation takes place in the country, this church agreement/decision (on the existence of two Churches in Ukraine) can be reflected in the new constitution of the country.”

At the same time, he notes that “the Ukrainian church belonging to Constantinople must solve its internal problems.”

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that, according to Metropolitan Maxim of Silivria, the Most Holy Theotokos is on the side of Patriarch Bartholomew in the fight against the Russian Orthodox Church.
