The ruling bishop of one of the oldest dioceses of the Greek Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Nektarios (Dovas) of Kerkyra and Paxoi, during the meeting with Metropolitan Luke (Kovalenko) of Zaporizhia and Melitopol, said that Phanar is dissatisfied with his position, but he has unshakeable convictions and supports the UOC. This was announced by the hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in his Telegram channel.

“I was told that Patriarch Bartholomew was very upset and dissatisfied with my position,” the hierarch from the island of Corfu shared, “but I do what our faith and my conscience tells me. I know that several bishops have joined the OCU, but I am sure that the Church did not lose from this but only gained, as it is being purified of corruption. The opinions of the hierarchs were also divided, but I am firm in my conviction and support the canonical Church under the Primacy of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry.”

He emphasized that within the Church of Constantinople there are also strong divergences on the “Ukrainian issue”.

The hierarchs discussed the upcoming Primates’ Council. According to the Metropolitan of Kerkyra, the main thing is not the number of Primates who arrived in Amman but the fact that most of the First Hierarchs support the idea of the Pan-Orthodox Council.

Metropolitan Nektarios said that he was following religious events in Ukraine and praying that the Lord as the Wise Doctor would heal the schism and sort the wheat of the Church from the chaff.

As reported by the UOJ, the public organization Pan-Greek Orthodox Union believes that the media deliberately hush up the problem of separation in the Greek Orthodox society.
