On November 16, 2022, the representative of the Russian Orthodox Church, Archpriest Andrey Tkachev, commented on the Russian strikes on the infrastructure of Ukraine.
In an interview with the Spas TV channel, the priest said, "Today it is much better to knock out some kind of substation than 40,000 people with it."
Tkachev believes that the Russian Federation is “waging war on Christian principles,” because “we are destroying transformers, not people who have an immortal soul. Another thing is that no one will appreciate this, no one understands this even here, in Russia, let alone there (in Ukraine – Ed.). Yes, we are destroying transformers, not people,” Tkachev said.
According to him, “if you multiply the number of strikes by the possible number of deaths, then there would already be hundreds of thousands of the civilian deaths. But there aren’t."
The fact that the Russians “destroyed some kind of energy facility there without any victims,” according to Tkachev, suggests “there is a certain vulnerability of the righteous here.”
“A knight who clashes with a ‘goose’ suffers. Because he thinks everyone should be noble. Instead, a ‘goose’ hits both from behind and stealthily,” assures the Russian archpriest.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that according to ROC priest Oleg Steniayev, propaganda dehumanizes the enemy to make it easier for him to kill.
