His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry said in an interview with “The Academic Chronicler” journal that hatred is not justified by anything, even war, and the most important thing in this situation is to preserve love for God and people.
"Curses, backbiting, hatred are sins, and sin cannot be justified by anything, not even war. In the trials of war, we must not lose our humanity, we must not lose our love for God and our neighbour," His Beatitude said.
"If we love God, even if we are disgraced, insulted, persecuted, peace will remain in our souls. If we love God, no one will be able to defeat us, neither dark demons, nor evil people, nor the horrors of war, because God will protect us. And no one can defeat the one who has God as his defender," added the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
As earlier reported, His Beatitude said that UOC priests were not collaborators but real national heroes.
