On November 28, 2022, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia appreciates the initiatives of a number of states, including the Vatican, that are ready to provide a platform for negotiations with Ukraine, but in the current situation, these proposals remain unclaimed due to the position of Kyiv. It is reported by interfax.ru.
“We know that a number of foreign statesmen and countries are declaring their readiness to provide their platform, and, of course, we welcome such political will. But in the situation at hand, de facto and de jure, on the part of the Ukrainian side, such platforms cannot be in demand,” Peskov told the reporters, commenting on the Vatican’s readiness to provide a platform for negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.
As the UOJ wrote, the head of the Foreign Ministry of the Vatican announced he is ready to provide a place for talks on Ukraine.
