On the night of March 27-28, 2020, an all-night vigil will be held in all the monasteries and sketes of the Holy Mount Athos with special prayers for the deliverance of the world from the coronavirus, Afonit.info Athos portal reports.

The corresponding decision was made on March 19 by the Holy Kinot of the Holy Mountain, which called on all monasteries, sketes and cells to serve the all-night vigil for the Patroness of the Holy Mountain, the Most Holy Theotokos, and the holy martyr Charalampy, whom they pray for deliverance from epidemics. In addition, in each Athos monastery, special molebens will be offered in front of the relics of saints and miraculous icons with praying against the spread of coronavirus infection.

In its address, the Holy Kinot called on everyone to strengthen prayers and repentance, which is especially important during the days of Great Lent.

Athonites appeal to all Orthodox Christians to join the prayer for the deliverance from the pandemic.

As reported by the UOJ, on March 19, 2020, all the monasteries of Athos were closed to pilgrims because of the coronavirus.
