Zelenskyy imposes sanctions against Chancellor and six more UOC reps

On December 11, 2022, by decree 863, Volodymyr Zelenskyy put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council "On the application of personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions)" against bishops and other representatives of the UOC. The decree was published on the website of the President of Ukraine.

According to the text, sanctions are imposed against:

  1. Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary of the UOC;
  2. Metropolitan Meletiy of Chernivtsi and Bukovyna, Chairman of the DECR UOC;
  3. Metropolitan Luke of Zaporizhzhia and Melitopol;
  4. Metropolitan Panteleimon of Luhansk and Alchevsk;
  5. Archbishop Paisiy of Konstantinovka;
  6. Archimandrite Ioann, rector of the Melitopol Savva Monastery;
  7. Archimandrite Alexy, rector of the Dormition Cathedral in Kherson.

Sanctions are imposed for a period of 5 years.

Recall that earlier the National Security and Defense Council imposed sanctions against Archdeacon Vadim Novinsky, the abbot of the Lavra Metropolitan Pavel, and eight other hierarchs of the UOC.
