This year, Great Lent has been difficult for believers, and everyone will take a fresh look at their life after it. Metropolitan Theodore of Mukachevo and Uzhgorod said this in his Easter greetings, published on the YouTube channel of the Mukachevo Diocese of the UOC.
“The Holy Fourth Week is left behind, which this year has been very difficult for every believer, because the worldwide pandemic of the coronavirus COVID-19 brought a lot of misfortune, a lot of evil to people, and affected every soul that glorifies the name of Christ,” the hierarch noted. “Though the Lent was difficult, we received the Sacraments and repented of all our sins to Almighty God. “We could not always pray to God in temples, because by the quarantine requirements we had stay at home and praise the name of Christ there.”
According to the hierarch, today has posed many challenges to people, and "after this fast, it seems to me that every person will look at his life in a new way."
“The Easter is also unusual for us this year,” added Metropolitan Theodore. “Many people today in their homes, apartments pray earnestly with us to God Almighty, watching online divine service. Many people today are distressed by these circumstances in our native Ukrainian land. But the most important thing is that everything will pass, everything will turn over in our life. One thing is certain to last forever, the most unfathomable and holiest thing for a believer – Christ has risen from the dead."
The hierarch thanked the flock, clergy, and monks of the Mukachevo Eparchy for “providing spiritual guidance and praying for the whole world with patience and understanding throughout the days of Great Lent,” as well as doctors who have been fighting for people's lives.
“I congratulate you on the Feast of Passover! If the Lord Merciful resurrected, if He gave us eternal life, if He did everything with His love so that we could save our immortal souls and inherit eternal bliss, this should be the main priority of our life. May the Lord bless each of you. May peace and health, which are now so desirable for everyone, reign in our midst,” Metropolitan Theodore wished.
As the UOJ reported, on the eve of the Holy Resurrection, local authorities blocked the road to the Mukachevo St. Nicholas Convent.
