Minister of Culture Oleksandr Tkachenko said in an interview with Ukrinform that after the inventory of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, the interdepartmental commission for checking the use of state property will do the same in the Pochaiv Lavra.
"As a result of the work of the commission, there may be such a need – at least I do not exclude it. Because there were also questions concerning the use of property in this lavra," said the Minister.
Asked about the fate of Sviatogorsk Lavra and whether it would face the same inspection, Tkachenko replied that the lavra is under the control of the regional council.
"The Pochaiv and Kyiv-Pechersk Lavras belong to the state, but the Sviatogorsk Lavra seems to be controlled by the regional council. That is, it is not our subordination, so the local authority must initiate this process. I do not know how it will be. Taking into account military operations, I think we should resolve the issue of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. Probably, after the Pochaiv lavra, and then move on," Tkachenko said.
As reported, in January 2023, Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko said that the Interdepartmental Commission will make a decision on the Lower Lavra in early February.
