The head of the OCU, Epifaniy Dumenko, plans to sign a long-term contract for the lease of the entire territory of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra by his structure. He stated this on the air of the telethon "United News", reports Delo.ua.

“The future of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra is to be completely with the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. First, we will serve on major holidays, and when the clergy of the Lavra is formed, when some of the monks from the Lower Lavra join us, we will organize daily services. Services will be then held every Sunday in the cathedrals, in the central Assumption Cathedral,” he said.

Epifaniy predicts that he will hold his “services” in the Upper Lavra, while the UOC will be in the Lower Lavra. In the future, the Lower and Upper Lavra will be united under the auspices of the OCU, Dumenko said. He added that his structure was going to sign a long-term contract with the state for the lease of the entire Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

As the UOJ reported, earlier the press service of the OCU said that this religious structure "as the legal successor of the Kyiv Metropolis" has the full right to its heritage, that is, to the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
