After finishing checks in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, the authorities will conduct an audit in the Pochaiv Lavra. It is reported by Radio Svoboda.
Officials are particularly interested in the Transfiguration Church, the construction of which began in 2011, and which is much larger that the ancient Assumption Cathedral. To date, 33 bells have been installed on the newly built church.
The architectural complex of the Pochaiv Lavra was transferred to the free use of the UOC until 2052. Also, by a government decree, the buildings of the Pochaiv Lavra were excluded from the Kremenets-Pochaiv State Historical and Architectural Reserve. However, in 2018, the Ministry of Justice rescinded Decree No. 438 of July 17, 2003.
The report notes that at the next session of the regional council, an appeal is initiated to transfer the complex of buildings of the Pochaiv Lavra to the use of the OCU.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that a petition was registered on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers, in which they demand to terminate the lease agreement for the Pochaiv Lavra with the UOC.
