On 27 January 2023, during a meeting with Epifaniy Dumenko at the Phanar, Patriarch Bartholomew expressed the wish that the entire Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra would come under the control of the OCU, reports pomisna.info.

Dumenko presented Bartholomew with an icon of the Virgin Mary with Sts Anthony and Theodosius and boasted that he had already "served a liturgy" twice at the Lavra's Dormition Cathedral.

According to the head of the OCU, "gradually the Lavra is becoming Ukrainian".

"May God bless that the entire Lavra will be Ukrainian," Bartholomew replied.

Epifaniy also thanked the head of the Phanar for the "love for the Ukrainian people" that he "constantly shows".

As reported, the clergy and brethren of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra denied Dumenko's statements that they allegedly intend to join the OCU.
