On February 15, the Economic Court of Kyiv decided to dismantle the building of the Tithe Monastery (UOC), as reported by Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko on his Telegram channel.
The placement of the church on the land of the museum, according to the court, is contrary to its intended use. It violates the requirements of Article 91/1a of the Land Code.
"The church-kiosk is located in a buffer zone of UNESCO monuments, where new construction is prohibited, and also violates the ensemble of the historical archaeological complex ‘Tithe Church’," the minister wrote and thanked the court for a "fair decision".
As reported, earlier Oleksandr Tkachenko announced the dismantling of the Tithe Church and the relevant court decision. The demolition of the church was constantly advocated by activists led by ex-MP Ihor Lutsenko, who collected supporters through social networks to pressure the court.
