Metropolitan Neophytos of Morphou, in an interview with the Spasi i Sokhrani YouTube channel, said that the war in Ukraine is part of the Third World War.
“Why did the Lord allow the outbreak of World War III? The Ukrainian issue is part of the Third World War. It's not the beginning, but it's not the end either. History is controlled by the Lord. Many people see only the human factor, disagreements, agreements, confrontation between Russia and NATO, energy issues, but there are also spiritual reasons, which some of the modern saints personally told me about,” said the hierarch of the Cypriot Church.
The Metropolitan added that the Lord lets wars happen in order to correct people, and quoted the words of St. John the Russian spoken to Elder Jacob (Tsalikis).
“Elder Jacob once went to venerate the relics of St. John the Russian on the island of Euboea, he saw the saint as if alive, and John the Russian told him, ‘In order to correct this world, a war must begin, otherwise humanity will not change,’” he noted.
The Cypriot hierarch said that Jonah of Kiev prophesied about the war in Ukraine.
“They (representatives of the new world order – Ed.) want to split Orthodoxy. Then weaken it and thus weaken the person so that he can no longer become a saint, so that he can no longer become the image of God.
