The National Museum of the History of Ukraine reported that the UOC community had filed an appeal against the decision to demolish the Church of the Tithes in Kyiv, hromadske.ua reports.
The appeal was registered on March 9 at the Northern Economic Court of Appeal.
According to the report, no decision has been made so far to refuse to open or open appeal proceedings and assign the case to court proceedings.
On the website of the court, the essence of the complaint is the removal of obstacles to the use of the land and the abolition of the recording of ownership of real estate.
The museum noted that representatives of the religious community of the UOC did not contact them after the Economic Court of Kyiv issued a decision.
The lawyer of the UOC community Dmytro Dorofeyev confirmed the appeal against the decision.
“Now there is litigation, the decision of the court of first instance is challenged. I can’t tell you anything else now,” he said.
Recall that on February 15, 2023, the Economic Court of Kyiv decided to dismantle the building of the Tithe Monastery of the UOC. According to the court, the placement of the church on the land plot of the museum is contrary to its intended use. The decision of the court could come into force only after 20 days unless appealed during this term.
As the UOJ previously reported, the National Museum hopes that the Church of the Tithes will be demolished by the end of the year.
