If you sinned and did not repent, then be patient and bear the punishment. Thus Filaret Denisenko commented in an interview with ZIK on the situation with the fifth president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, who was handed a suspicion in the case opened on the claim of the UOC-KP.
According to Filaret, the UOC-KP is opposed to the illegal actions of Poroshenko, the consequences of which it feels.
“Why did he (Petro Poroshenko – Ed.) as president instruct the Ministry of Culture to remove the Kyiv Patriarchate from registration?” noted the head of the liquidated UOC-KP. “To remove from registration, we, i.e. the Kyiv Patriarchate, should apply to the Ministry of Culture. But we did not apply, while other eparchies did. So why did the same Poroshenko order to remove us from registration? Therefore, we are against these illegal actions, we feel its illegal actions on ourselves and suffer from it. The property was taken from us in the same way.”
Filaret specified that “of course, a Christian should have compassion for every suffering person, but at the same time, live in truth.”
“If you have sinned, then be patient and bear the punishment for your sins. There is no sin in life that is not punished by God. God does not punish only the sin for which the man repented – this is the sin God forgives. Therefore, we must know: Do you sin? – you do. Do you want God not to punish you? Repent of your sin and correct yourself, then you will not be punished. And if you do not repent, do not correct yourself, wait – sooner or later the punishment will come. I’ve lived a long life, and in my lifetime I saw how the Lord punishes everyone who does not live the truth,” he emphasized.
As reported earlier, on June 18, Petro Poroshenko stated that a criminal case was opened against him because of the Tomos for the OCU. This statement was refuted by the UOC-KP, saying that the ex-president was given a suspicion in the case of "raiding the Kyiv Patriarchate", which was opened on the claim of the community of the Church of the Nativity of Christ of the UOC-KP in Odessa.
