Metropolitan Clement (Vecheria), Chairman of the Information and Education Department of the UOC, commented on the appearance of inspectors from the National Reserve "Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra" on the territory of the Near Caves, Strana.ua reports.

Metropolitan Clement noted that traditionally the actions of the authorities in the Lavra are carried out with the disregard of all legal requirements. And he described the reaction of believers who prayed at the holy relics in the Near Caves of the Lavra to the appearance of inspectors from the Ministry of Culture.

"They were extremely indignant at everything that was happening and openly expressed their displeasure with the behavior of the officials, who did not even bother to explain by what right they were carrying out their sudden checks without warning the monastics about it in advance," said Bishop Clement.

As the UOJ reported, on March 13, a commission from the Reserve began its work in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, which conducted an audit on the territory of the Near Caves. The monks of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church were not notified of the audit.
