The abbot of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Metropolitan Pavel, called on the parishioners of the UOC to come to the territory of the monastery to pray for the holy monastery. He said this in an appeal distributed by the Lavra’s press service.
At the same time, Vladyka said that he could not guarantee the safety of the parishioners, since provocateurs might get into the territory of the Lavra. According to him, they will do everything to start a showdown with the believers of the Church.
Metropolitan Pavel noted that believers of the UOC should only pray, rather than “be likened to unfortunate politicians.”
“I call you all to prayer. Come to the territory of the Lavra. You will see what the godless decrees of the tormentors do. But we should not be likened to unfortunate politicians. We cannot start revolutions, we cannot throw incendiary mixtures or stones. We can only pray. I can't guarantee everyone's safety. Why? Because provocateurs can come and do everything to start a confrontation,” he said.
The hierarch once again stressed that the UOC remains loyal to the Ukrainian people and its earthly Fatherland – Ukraine: “We remain loyal to our people, we pray for the government, although it is far from truth and faith. Today I ask you to pray for the holy monastery.”
As reported by the UOJ, the UOC is being expelled from the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
