The persecution of the authorities against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and, in particular, the intention to take away the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra from it cause indignation among believers and the clergy of other Orthodox Churches, as well as representatives of international organizations, said Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary, the UOC Chancellor.

“Such illegal decisions caused justified indignation not only among UOC believers but also representatives of the Local Orthodox Churches and international institutions and organizations, from which we receive letters of support every day,” the bishop said.

He recalled that “the other day even the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights published a report where the section on freedom of religion speaks of discrimination against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church”.

As reported, the Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Porfirije, called on the Local Churches to condemn the persecution against the UOC.
