The pro-Phanar online edition “Orthodox Times”, published manipulative information stating that Ukrainians, if they were given a choice between His Beatitude Onufriy and Epifaniy Dumenko on the issue of primacy in the hypothetical “united Church,” would choose Dumenko.
The resource, in particular, said the following: " The citizens of the country want Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and all Ukraine as the primate of a single Church in Ukraine." As proof, the publication cited figures of support for His Beatitude Onufriy and Epifaniy Dumenko.
This article used the results of a poll conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS)
The poll participants were asked to answer two questions:
1. Who would you like to see as the Primate of the united Orthodox Church in the event of the unification of the OCU with the UOC?
2. Who would you like to see as the Primate of the united Orthodox Church in the event of the unification of the OCU, the UOC and the UGCC?
At the same time, the KIIS report clearly stated that the main task of the poll was to determine the hypothetical head of a hypothetical unified structure (that is, the UOC, the OCU and the UGCC – Ed.): “Who would Ukrainians like to see as the Primate of the united Church?”
However, in the Greek edition of the Orthodox Times, they deliberately kept silent about the main study, which spoke about the unification with the Uniates and suggested voting for the head of the UGCC Sviatoslav Shevchuk. The resource presented the information in such a way that it was Orthodox Ukrainians who voted precisely for the head of the Orthodox hypothetical united Church. Meanwhile, the very fact that respondents in the KIIS poll voted for the unification with the UGCC already casts doubt on their affiliation with Orthodoxy.
Thus, the resource “Orthodox Times” resorted to manipulation in order to create the illusion of the non-existent authority of Sergey (Epifaniy) Dumenko among Ukrainian believers.
