In the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, the police began to hand out summons to the brethren of the monastery and students of Kyiv theological schools for interrogation under Article 179 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The UOJ was informed about this in the Lavra.
On the evening of April 10, several dozen subpoenas have already been distributed. According to sources, criminal proceedings were initiated at the request of the Reserve. The reason is the non-admission of the commission of the Ministry of Culture to the territory of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
Article 179 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine provides for punishment for the illegal maintenance, desecration or destruction of religious shrines with a fine of one thousand to four thousand non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens or public works for a period of sixty to two hundred and forty hours, or arrest for up to six months, or restriction of freedom for up to three years, or imprisonment for the same term.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that the court sentenced the governor of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra to 60 days of house arrest.
