Vatican Cardinal making a visit to Lviv

On July 18, 2020, at the invitation of Metropolitan and Archbishop of Lviv (the Roman Catholic Church) Mieczysław Mokrzycki, the papal almoner, Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, arrived in Lviv. The representative of the Vatican began visited the City Hall, where he met with the Lviv mayor Andriy Sadovyi and left an entry in the Book of Honorary Guests of the city, reports the press service of the Lviv City Council.

During the visit, the papal representative, along with Polish Deputy Prime Minister Jacek Sasin and Andriy Sadovyi, honored the memory of the Heroes of Heavenly Hundred at the memorial in Lviv.

The main purpose of the visit of the RCC cardinal is the consecration of the construction site of the House for Single and Homeless Women in Lviv, which the Albertine sisters of the RCC will supervise, as well as the consecration of the Roman Catholic Church of St. John Paul II.

In addition, the cardinal is going to dine with the homeless at the “Caritas”, a charitable foundation of the UGCC.

“Cardinal Konrad Krajewski as a papal almoner will come here to show us the closeness of Father Francis with our people, our Church in Ukraine. This is a great gesture of Pope Francis, as well as a great love of Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, who for many years was a close associate of Pope John Paul II,” explained Metropolitan Mieczysław Mokrzycki of the RCC on the eve of the cardinal's visit to Lviv.

As reported earlier, clerics of the RCC, UGCC and the OCU together consecrated a Catholic church in Bogorodchany.
