On 23 April 2023, a man wearing a military uniform and carrying a national flag walked into the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra during a service. He called those present "Moskals sh*t" and also threatened to "burn those devils".
"There should be one single church – the OCU or the UGCC. Moskals, get out of here, we will burn all the devils here," the "military man" declared. He got into a dialogue with one of the parishioners, in which he demanded that every church should have a flag. "We have a cross," replied the worshipper, and said she had a son fighting at the front. “Why are you here and not in Bakhmut? Did you come to fight against me?".
When asked by a UOJ journalist what feast today is, the 'military man' could not answer and said that he is Greek Catholic.
As earlier reported, a drunken activist tried to disrupt a service in the Lavra.
