President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky did not give his consent to negotiations on the settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict with the participation of Pope Francis. This was reported to CNN by an official close to the President's Office.
“President Zelensky has not consented to any such discussions on Ukraine’s behalf. If talks are happening, they are happening without our knowledge or our blessing,” the source said.
At the same time, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said at a briefing that they are aware of the pontiff's peace initiatives: “We are aware. I just don't have any comments on this."
As the UOJ reported, Pope Francis said that the Vatican is involved in a "secret peace mission" in relation to Ukraine.
