Epifaniy Dumenko said in an interview with Gazeta.ua that he sees no point in the unification with the UOC.

"It makes no sense to talk about possible unification with those who openly oppose it because they have completely different values and priorities," Dumenko said. “<...> We call for it, but we are not forcing anyone to do it and we will not do it in the future. After all, there is no point in this. We do not need in our ranks the collaborators who hate everything Ukrainian".

According to Dumenko, it makes no sense to unite with the UOC also because "there is already a truly Ukrainian and autocephalous Orthodox Church of its own. The Church is canonical and recognized by the Ecumenical Patriarchate and other churches".

Earlier, the OCU had approached the UOC with a proposal to start dialogue.
