More than a third of MPs from the Servant of the People faction do not support the bill to ban the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This was reported to the BBC by a source in the Verkhovna Rada.

According to the interlocutor, the vote for the “anti-church” bill has already been postponed several times due to the lack of votes.

At the same time, the source said that a group of supporters of the UOC in the Servant of the People faction has "quite a strong position".

At the same time, the Rada believes that it will be difficult to collect votes even for the “softest” bill to ban the Church.

“And some, like, for example, MP Artem Dmytruk, publicly criticize the actions of the authorities regarding, as he says, the oppression of the UOC, and even complained about this to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Not publicly, this position is supported by many of his colleagues in the Rada,” the BBC quotes the interlocutor's message.

The BBC also added that the next consideration of the bill in the Rada could take place in late spring or early summer.

As the UOJ reported, MP Artem Dmytruk explained why the Rada does not vote to ban the UOC.

The UOJ also wrote that MP Inna Sovsun said that the bills on the UOC are not put to the vote for fear of not gaining votes.
