On May 22, 2023, the Supreme Court initiated proceedings on the lawsuit of Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshhorod against President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine, reports the hierarch's lawyer, Archpriest Nikita Chekman, on his Telegram channel.

The lawyer noted that the lawsuit seeks the recognition and cancellation of two presidential decrees imposing personal sanctions against Metropolitan Pavel. These decrees are No. 820/2022 dated December 1, 2022, and No. 43/2023 dated January 24, 2023.

The Court has scheduled the hearings for June 19, 2023.

"The plaintiff's motion was also granted, and the Court obtained all the evidence on which the challenged decisions were based," added the lawyer of the UOC hierarch.

As previously reported, the Lavra abbot appealed against the imposed sanctions in court.
