UOC representatives take part in AUCCRO meeting with Government officials

On August 20, 2020, with the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine, the head of the UOC Information and Education Department, Metropolitan Сlement of Nizhyn and Priluki and an employee of the Department for External Church Relations of the UOC, priest Vitaly Gorzov, took part in a meeting of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations with the Prime Minister Of Ukraine Denis Shmygal and other government officials, reports the UOC DECR.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Culture and Information Policy Alexander Tkachenko, acting Minister of Education Sergei Shkarlet, Deputy Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko and others.
Representatives of religious organizations announced their readiness to cooperate with the Ukrainian Government in measures aimed at preventing the spread of coronavirus. In particular, the participants of the meeting decided to intensify the work on informing the population about preventive actions in case of a pandemic.
Particular attention was paid to the organization of the educational process in educational institutions in the current epidemiological situation.
During the meeting, Metropolitan Clement spoke about the initiative of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church aimed at aiding medical institutions, and also stressed the need to take into account the spiritual needs of COVID-19 patients, especially those who are in the acute phase of the disease.
At the end of the meeting, the profile officials announced the directions for further practical cooperation of government structures with the Churches and religious organizations of Ukraine.
As reported, on August 19, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal met with the head of the UGCC Sviatoslav Shevchuk, who spoke about the efforts of his church structure to combat the spread of coronavirus.
