The cleric of the Belarusian Greek Catholic Church (BGCC) Igor Kondratyev is one of the most recognizable figures of political rallies in Brest, the participants of which find the election results in Belarus to be falsified, said journalists of the “Brestskaya Gazeta” online publication.
Employees of this resource published an interview with Kondratyev, in which he boasted of his activity and talked about how he even “had his bald head burned in this sun over the last week, then peeled off and already tanned again”. According to the BGCC cleric, he is in the city every day from 8 am to 11 pm and is so tired as he wasn’t in his youth when unloading wagons.
Kondratyev said that after the elections he walked the streets all week and talked with representatives of law enforcement bodies and other people. During his activities, he tried to make others recognize him as a representative of the church.
The cleric of the BGCC also admitted that he had met many Protestant pastors at the meetings.
“They just can walk in shorts and T-shirts, so they don't attract as much attention as I do, rushing around in a cassock and with a cross,” he said.
Earlier it became known that the opposition in the Republic of Belarus entered an “autocephalous church” to the reform package.
