The "clergy" of the Kharkiv-Poltava Eparchy of the OCU, led by "Archbishop" Athanasiy Shkurupiy, did not support the decision of the OCU "Council of Bishops" to switch to the "Bolshevik calendar" and decided to keep the old style, reports the Telegram channel "For the Ukrainian Church".

The meeting was held at St. Michael’s Cathedral (OCU) of Poltava on May 15, 2023.

By an overwhelming majority, the participants of the assembly expressed their disagreement with the calendar reform in the OCU: 19 – against, 1 – for, 3 – abstained.

"Epifaniy Dumenko and Eustratiy Zoria have divided the Church. They did not ask the people but pushed a decision that benefits only the Greek Catholics. The position of the eparchy led by Athanasiy Shkurupiy is only the tip of an iceberg, the majority of the OCU parishes, as a poll of ordinary priests shows, do not approve of the new style," the report says.

As earlier reported, the authorities promise the transfer of state holidays following calendar changes in the OCU and the UGCC.
