On June 4, 2023, the Orthodox Church celebrates the Feast of the Holy Trinity or Pentecost.

This day is named the Feast of the Holy Trinity, because the action of the Third Person of the Most Holy Trinity, the Holy Spirit, became visible there.

Saint John Chrysostom wrote about it so: "And it filled the whole house. The tempestuous breath was as though it were a font of water, and fire is the sign of abundance and power. This never happened to the prophets; it only happened now – to the apostles; here the Holy Spirit Itself does everything and thus is equal to the Father and the Son".

This feast is called Pentecost because the Holy Spirit descended on the apostles on the fiftieth day after Easter.

"Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues[a] as the Spirit enabled them" (Acts 2:2-4).

Traditionally, churches on Trinity Day are decorated with grass and green branches.
