On September 6, 2020, the leader of the European Solidarity party Petro Poroshenko prayed with the Uniates and spoke from the pulpit of the church of Saints Olga and Elizabeth of the UGCC in Lviv. The broadcast of the ex-president's speech was published on his Facebook page.

Poroshenko thanked those who had gathered in the Uniate church for a joint prayer, during which, according to him, everyone prayed for something of their own, but all together – "for Ukraine, for its freedom, for its honor, for its glory, for its people," and stressed that the people of Lviv "have always been the first to defend Ukrainian statehood" and to move Ukraine "to Europe, the European Union, to democracy, freedom, Christian values."

He said that now "Ukraine needs determination again," but "God helps Ukraine."

“The Lord helped us when He bestowed us the Tomos, when He gave us the unification of the Orthodox Churches. And I saw the sincere joy of the Primate, fathers, believers of the Greek Catholic Church, who rejoiced that the Orthodox Church had been established in Ukraine," Petro Poroshenko stressed and, as promised, handed over a certificate in the amount of UAH 500,000 to the UGCC church in Lviv.

It will be recalled that at the UGCC service in Rome, Petro Poroshenko stated that “today the Greek Catholic Church plays a crucial role in the unity of the state. And it’s extremely important for me that this is also the unification of our churches – I’m here as an Orthodox, the majority are Greek Catholics, but we are together because we pray for Ukraine.”
