Metropolitan Nikodim of Severodonetsk and Starobelsk called on believers of the UOC to support the efforts of rescuers who are fighting fires in the Luhansk region with prayer, reports the press service of the Severodonetsk Eparchy.

Over the past day, fires in the Luhansk region have covered 10,000 hectares. A total of 146 fires were recorded, of which only 82 were extinguished. There are dead and injured.

Vladyka Nikodim gave his blessing on October 1 to perform akathist singing to the Mother of God in front of the “Unburnt Bush” Icon.

“We will pray that the fires will subside as soon as possible and stop burning the long-suffering Luhansk land. May the rescuers have strength and God's help,” the hierarch wished.

As reported earlier, a UOC bishop called for prayer for those who died in the plane crash near Kharkiv.
