On October 3, 2020, acting US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Philip Reeker discussed "common interests" with Patriarch Bartholomew, Romfea reports.

The meeting between Philip Reeker and the head of Phanar in Istanbul took place within the framework of an official visit to Turkey by the representative of the State Department. The official was accompanied by US Ambassador to Ankara David Satterfield and US Consul General in Istanbul Daria Darnell.

According to Romfea, during the meeting, the parties "discussed various topics of common interest for a long time."

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the US State Department assured Phanar of continued support and friendship.
