On 15 July 2023, Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon of the Orthodox Church of Constantinople demanded that the Bulgarian Patriarch recognise the OCU, reports religija.mk.
During his visit to Bulgaria, at a meeting with Metropolitan Nikolai of Plovdiv of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Emmanuel demanded to "fulfil the promise" allegedly made by Patriarch Neophytos to add Dumenko's name to the Diptych of the Bulgarian Church.
In addition, the Phanar hierarch demanded that the Bulgarian Patriarchate reconsider its attitude towards the Tomos that the Serbian Church granted to the Macedonian Church, and refer to Archbishop Stefan as "Archbishop of North Macedonia" instead of "Archbishop of Ohrid, Metropolitan of Skopje and All North Macedonia."
As reported, in the Church, no one gives orders to others, said Metropolitan Nikolai.
