The head of the DECR MP, Metropolitan Anthony (Sevriuk), referred to Pope Francis saying at a general audience that he thinks and worries about the brethren of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
According to the metropolitan, Pope Francis was one of the few recipients of those appeals that Patriarch Kirill sent to international political and religious leaders.
Vladyka said that the pope "publicly reacted to this letter during one of the general audiences that the pontiff traditionally holds on Wednesdays."
“A large number of pilgrims gather for these audiences, and there is a broadcast worldwide. The Pope said that his thoughts, his feelings today are with the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra brethren given the news that they simply want to expel the brethren from the monastery – from this great shrine of our church,” the metropolitan said.
He noted that when meeting with the pope on behalf of Patriarch Kirill, he thanked him for the fact that "with the complete silence of the world community in the public plane, Pope Francis was one of those who raised his voice and said his weighty word."
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the head of the Russian Orthodox Church told the Local Churches about discrimination against the UOC.
