A UNESCO mission will arrive in Odesa, as reported by the Ministry of Culture on their Facebook page. The organisation will conduct a preliminary assessment of the damage following the overnight rocket strike by Russia on July 23.

During the rocket shelling, the Transfiguration Cathedral in Odesa was destroyed, along with several other buildings in the city centre.

The Ministry of Culture stated that they expect active efforts to preserve and restore Ukrainian cultural heritage and call for excluding Russia from the organisation.

As reported, Italy previously declared its readiness to participate in the restoration of the Transfiguration Cathedral in Odesa.
