In the city of Horodenka, Ivano-Frankivsk region, the local authorities, with the help of the police, disrupted the worship of the community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which was held in a private house. This was reported by the press service of the City Council.

According to the press service, the authorities were informed about the meeting of believers of the “Moscow Patriarchate” by “vigilant residents” of the city.

“The city council immediately reacted by calling law enforcement agencies,” the press service says. “The police arrived at the scene and stopped the small gathering.”

The report notes that at 63 St. Volodymyr the Great, where the believers of the UOC prayed, "there is a private estate, there is no mention of the church in any permits or documents, this building, converted from a private house, is not a religious building."

“The city council has prepared a corresponding letter to law enforcement agencies to prevent similar situations in the future,” the press service informs.

It also emphasized that at the sessions, the City Council deputies had repeatedly “made decisions” and appealed to the President, the Verkhovna Rada, the Cabinet of Ministers and the Constitutional Court “regarding the prohibition of the religious organization of the UOC-MP”.

As the UOJ reported, after the seizure of the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ in Ivano-Frankivsk, the mayor of the city, Ruslan Martsynkiv, said that the Ivano-Frankivsk region was the first in Ukraine to be “completely cleansed” of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
