On October 26, 2020, two parallel actions of supporters and opponents of abortions were held in front of the building of the Polish Embassy in Kyiv, caused by the decision of the Polish Constitutional Court to prohibit termination of pregnancy due to fetal pathology.
The first to come to the embassy were right-wing activists from the “Tradition and Order” movement, starting a rally in support of the decision of the Polish Constitutional Court, reports Shariy.net. They brought with them posters "Killing children is barbarism, not law", "No to infanticide."
Later, representatives of the left-wing "Social Movement" arrived at the scene and began chanting "Women's rights are human rights", "bans are not ok, save women's lives", "Rights are not given, rights are taken".
To avoid conflicts between the opposing sides, law enforcers put them on different sides and built a cordon.
“Escorted by a larger number of law enforcers, the protesters were taken to the nearest metro station. The police guard against the provocations from radical supporters,” reports PavlovskyNews correspondents.
In addition, on the morning of October 26, representatives of the FEMEN movement held their "action of solidarity" outside the Polish Embassy in Kyiv, during which one of the activists naked, demonstrating slogans written on the body: "My body is my choice",“ Siostry do broni ”(“ Sisters, to arms ”).
As reported, on October 22, the Polish Constitutional Court ruled that the law which allowed women to have an abortion due to a serious and irreversible defect or an incurable illness of a child was not in compliance with the Constitution, thereby effectively banning abortion in the country. After the announcement of the court decision, protests of fighters for the woman's right to abortion began in Poland. Last Sunday, Polish activists held massive protests in front of churches.
