Lavra abbot diagnosed with myocardial infarction

Doctors have diagnosed myocardial infarction with Metropolitan Pavel, the abbot of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, reports the bishop’s lawyer, Archpriest Nikita Chekman, on his Telegram channel.

"According to official information from the healthcare institution, Metropolitan Pavel has been diagnosed with acute myocardial infarction," the lawyer wrote.

As reported, on August 14, 2023, the abbot of the Lavra was urgently hospitalized in the cardiology department of one of Kyiv's hospitals and underwent surgery on the same day.

According to the UOC Information and Education Department, the bishop underwent surgery on his heart vessels. Currently, he is under medical supervision in the hospital.

On August 7, 2023, Metropolitan Pavel was released from the pre-trial detention centre on bail.
