On the morning of August 18, 2023, the police cordoned off the territory of the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Kamyanets-Podilsky, the UOJ correspondent reports.
According to him, the security ordered to dismantle and roll up the tents in which the participants in the religious procession from Kamyanets to Pochaiv get settled during their stay on the territory of the cathedral.
Pilgrims began to gather on August 17 for the cross procession, which has been held for 200 years from August 19 to 25. For several years now, they have been traditionally camping in tents around the cathedral while preparing for the procession.
At the moment, the security forces forced all the tents to be removed and people to go outside the territory of the temple. No one is allowed outside the fence.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that according to the mayor of Kamyanets-Podilsky, the authorities would do everything to prevent the cross procession from taking place.
