On August 22, 2023, the deputies of the Ternopil Regional Council prohibited the UOC pilgrims heading to the Pochaiv Lavra from going in a procession through the territory of the region, reports "Suspilne".

The decision was supported by 42 out of 42 deputies present in the session hall.

The authorities of the Ternopil region had previously decided to ban the UOC's cross procession to Pochaiv. At that time, the decision was made at the level of the regional military administration based on the results of the Regional Defence Council meeting.

Similar decisions have also been made by the councils of Khmelnytskyi, Volyn, and Rivne regions.

As reported, the Volochysk City Council banned UOC procession participants from entering its territory.
