On September 1, 2023, the Representative of the Commissioner for Human Rights for Equal Rights and Freedoms of People, Rights of National Minorities, Mykhailo Spasov, along with his assistants, arrived at the Lavra, as reported by the Telegram channel "Lavra Now."

"Today, on the 26th day of the blockade of Buildings 54, 57, 58, a representative of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights came," they wrote on the channel.

Mykhailo Spasov visited the buildings and saw the conditions in which the monks and pilgrims were living. He was informed that according to the reserve's directive, once someone leaves the building, they will not be allowed back in. He was also informed that the police and representatives of the reserve were blocking the delivery of food, water, and medicine to the residents.

Archimandrite Varnava told Spasov that he has personally been living in the Lavra since 1997, and in building 57 since 2010, and he doesn't understand why he should be forced to leave.

Earlier, it was reported by the UOJ that a video showed a monk throwing bread to people inside a sealed-off building.
