Ombudsman’s representative opens proceedings on violations in the Lavra

On September 1, 2023, the representative of the Ukrainian Parliament's Commissioner for Human Rights, Mykhailo Spasov, initiated an investigation into a series of severe violations of the rights of monks and believers of the UOC by the staff of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra Reserve, as reported by the lawyer of the Lavra, Father Nikita Chekman, on his Telegram channel. He stated that an inquiry has been launched into this matter and published a letter from Spasov.

"We expect fair results. All those responsible must be held accountable!" the lawyer concluded.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that a representative of the Ombudsman had arrived at the Lavra.
