The press service of the Tultchin Eparchy of the UOC refuted the claims made by the pro-Phanariot website fosfanariou.gr that Metropolitan Jonathan of Tulchyn and Bratslav had confessed to committing the incriminated crimes, waived his right to appeal in court, and was ready to leave Ukraine in exchange for prisoners of war.

In the Tulchyn Eparchy's press release, it was emphasized that Metropolitan Jonathan has consistently stated and continues to assert that under no circumstances, even in exchange situations, will he acknowledge guilt for the serious offenses alleged by the Vinnytsia SBU and the Prosecutor's Office.

The eparchy also revealed that "Metropolitan Jonathan's consent and signature for the exchange were obtained through deceitful means by a group of Vinnytsia SBU employees who personally visited him, claiming that there was already approval for such an exchange, including a written petition from His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, as well as someone from the highest ranks of the Russian Federation, and that his name had already been added to the list of bishops and clergy for immediate deportation, which was later not confirmed."

At the same time, they say in the eparchy, "the investigators insisted on the complete silence of Metropolitan Jonathan about the exchange action, so as not to interfere with its execution."

“It is possible that such a deceitful trick can also take place in relation to other jurisdictional bishops of the UOC,” the diocesan administration suggested.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that Metropolitan Jonathan was sentenced to 5 years in prison.
