This is declaration of war: political expert about Phanar's stance on UOC

Political analyst Andrei Zolotarev, commenting to First Cossack channel on the statement of Patriarch Bartholomew that he “temporarily tolerates” His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry in Ukraine, noted that this can be regarded as a declaration of war on the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

“We see the dramatically increased activity of Bartholomew, who, after Poroshenko's defeat, quieted down. Now it is associated with Biden’s possible presidency. Considering the contacts of Bartholomew in the United States (even evil tongues joked that he is the patriarch of Washington), he perked up,” the political analyst noted.

“By and large, this is an act of declaring war, he declares that he is returning to the same positions that he received by agreement with Poroshenko, and he intends to actively defend these positions,” assures Zolotarev.

After the change of power, Washington will actively support the schismatics, which, first of all, will affect the religious situation in Ukraine. Zelensky will have to pursue the same policy as it was under Poroshenko, so in 2021 the intra-religious situation in Ukraine may sharply aggravate, the expert said.

"The goal of Washington's policy is clear: Ukraine should become Anti-Russia, the religious issue playing a significant role," Zolotarev concluded.

On October 6, 2020, Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, in response to a letter from the founders of the Center for Religious Security and the editors of the Tserkvarium publication, stated that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church no longer exists, and that he “temporarily tolerates” His Beatitude Onuphry in Ukraine, while the creation of the OCU beneficially affected church life Ukraine.

Earlier, the UOJ edition reported that the words of the head of the Phanar about the UOC contain hate speech.
