UOC Synod grants Sviatohirsk Lavra the status of stauropegic monastery

On September 25, 2023, at a meeting of the Holy Synod of the UOC, a decision was made to grant the Sviatohirsk Lavra the status of a stauropegic monastery. This was reported by the press service of the UOC.
Thus, the monastery will be directly subordinate to the Primate of the UOC, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry.
The UOC also noted that Metropolitan Arseniy will continue to be the Abbot of the Sviatohirsk Lavra.
In addition, His Eminence Metropolitan Arseniy of Sviatohirsk has been appointed a vicar bishop of the Kyiv Metropolis.
As the UOJ reported, the Primate and bishops of the UOC prayed during the liturgy before the meeting of the Synod.
